Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) has been shown to aid in managing chronic pain more effectively compared to conventional treatments. Research indicates that individuals who engage in MBSR programs often experience enhanced mental health, including reduced symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Additionally, eight-week mindfulness programs can positively impact cognition and mood by enhancing attention-related abilities (such as sustained attention and working memory) and emotional outcomes (like reducing rumination).

Mary has practised meditation since 1988, primarily in the Insight tradition and later in other lineages. She came to appreciate firsthand the clinical application of mindfulness meditation for her own stress and chronic pain and has facilitated Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction groups since 2011. She is a certified teacher with MTI, Mindfulness Training Institute - Australia New Zealand . Mary is passionate about how we can heal trauma and achieve optimal well being and freedom through body-mind practices. She works as a somatic psychotherapist in Brisbane and supports teacher trainee mindfulness teachers in honing their craft.

MBSR is an authentic, evidence-based program of mindfulness training, grounded in 39 years of research. Unlike many shorter mindfulness courses, which have no evidence of benefit, MBSR is globally recognised as the gold standard for mental and physical health in the field.
Our immersive, eight-week courses include 28 hours of personal mindfulness training. Many short courses only give you a taste of mindfulness, and are actually more expensive than MBSR on an hourly rate basis.
