Masterclass Individual Sessions
Session 1: Finding your ground in volatile times: the embrace of the sensory world
Sunday 16th February
9am - 1pm (AEDT) | Live-Online
with Timothea Goddard
Being a person is an interesting, challenging and confusing experience. We are constantly changing, finding our feet and sometimes losing that footing. The world can be random, unfair and painful and also delightful and awe-inspiring. So much is unknown. What can a contemplative practice offer in these times when the world is on fire?
How do we find our ground to stay open, purposeful and alive in the face of our predicament? Where and how we place our attention matters. And so does our intention as we approach the world and our own inner world just as they are. In this first session, we will begin our exploration of embodied, non-dual awareness, opening to the embrace of the sensory world and our belonging to that world, as a basis for practice that is less struggle and more presence. And we will build some clarity about your specific intentions, and how to craft practice this year, so it is more efficient, easeful and relevant to our lives.
The content will draw on understandings of:
- Polyvagal exercises for more calm and clarity
- Experiments in attention and grounding
- Ways of attending: left and right brain modes and their strengths
- Embodied awareness: releasing struggle in practice
