Mindfulness programs for depression and anxiety

Rediscover your energy and sense of connection

In the middle of this road we call our life, I found myself in a dark wood
with no clear path through.

Dante Alighieri

Depression is complex. It can be genetic and can also be a response to a situation we we feel undervalued and uncared for, and that our feelings don't matter to others. Openground programs can help you feel more empowered, motivated and connected again.
How can Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy help?

The program can help you:

  • Calm your nervous system and begin some habits of self-care
  • Disrupt the automatic downward spiral of negative emotions, pessimistic thoughts, and physical sensations like fatigue - which are amplifiers for depressive states.
  • "Nip it in the bud" and identify the early signs of a low mood and intervene much sooner than before
  • Shift your critical and judgemental mode of mind to a different way of paying attention.
  • Realise that difficult thoughts and feelings can be held in awareness
  • Open to a perspective that brings a sense of warmth and compassion to the suffering you are experiencing.
  • Be present and connect with yourself and the experience of being alive, here, now.

Anxiety and depression often go together

For most people depression and anxiety go together. We offer both Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for anxiety and depression.

If you are more depressed with some anxiety, we recommend MBCT.
If you are more anxious with some low mood, we recommend MBSR.

*If you are suffering an episode of major depression or bipolar disorder, do consult your psychologist or doctor for an initial first-line treatment.
