A three day mindfulness retreat set on a hilltop, 40 metres above the pounding sea and surrounded by national park. This retreat is a rather unusual one for Openground to offer as it is quite expensive! It is set in a luxury location on the East coast of Tasmania - with incredible food, beds and walks. (Most of the fee for this retreat actually goes to pay for this amazing place!) So if you are in a position to pay for this kind of adventure, do think about joining Pamela and Tim for this immersion in mindfulness practice in the wild east of Tasmania.

The retreat will be largely in silence, but with some guided practice, specific meditation instructions, talks and opportunities for discussions with the teachers. It is an opportunity for the sustained practice of bringing curiosity and compassion to everything that arises, and to notice what happens when we do this.

"I wish I could go every month, working in "the helping professions" I found it amazing to be silent, to not have to hear others, to be still with my thoughts, to BE not do. A great balance - the times where we got to work with the leaders and talk was very constructive use of "talk time". Meditation practices were all able to be modified - suits experienced and inexperienced, flexibly and non-flexible!!!!!

"I did the MBSR course a couple of years ago and since then have attended the quarterly silent days and a retreat in Healesville.I cannot speak highly enough of the positive affect that these sessions have had on me. I believe my meditation is a major contributor in me having my little the boy Oscar, just 3 months ago. (He is now the main reason that I can't get to any retreats at the moment but I wouldn't change anything).
I still think of the Healesville experience often and the main thing I remember is that I felt as though I had had a holiday from the rest of the world. How special and precious it is to have all that time just with myself and with my mind and my body with no interference from daily challenges. It was invigorating and I felt so lucky to have that time but also so glad that I had given myself that gift- the gift of 'just me' time. Liberating, energising and comforting are other words that come to mind.
Can't wait for the time when I feel ready to leave Oscar and return to these retreats. For now, he's just too cute."
