insight dialogue
A 7-day retreat near Melbourne in 2010
The meeting point:
Stillness and reactivity, love and suffering
With Gregory Kramer and Mary Burns
In this retreat we will practice both silent, personal meditation, and the relational meditation of Insight Dialogue as we explore the Four Noble Truths. This is the basis for experientially unfolding the core of the human experience, the possibility of transforming our reactivity and suffering - by being totally present to our human traits - finding the meeting point, with release and acceptance.
Insight Dialogue supports us to bring the mindfulness and tranquility of traditional silent meditation practice into our interactions with others through dialogue. This allows us to perceive and understand things that are normally overlooked in the busyness of life, and to be more accepting of ourselves and others as they are. As humans we are relational beings. As we begin to awaken to this experience, we find insight, clarity, ease and joy flowing into our ordinary and extraordinary lives.

Workshop One
Speech That Liberates: Meditating Together in Insight Dialogue
with Gregory Kramer
2 May, 2010
9am - 4pm
Insight Dialogue is a way of bringing the tranquility and insight attained in silent meditation directly into your interactions with other people through mindful listening, speaking and contemplation.
It's a meditation practice that involves interacting with a partner as a way of accessing a profound kind of insight. You can then take that insight into the immediacy of everyday human interactions. Drawing on years of experience leading Insight Dialogue retreats, Gregory has masterfully united the breadth of people's mindful interaction with the depth of dharma fundamentals.

Workshop Two
Insight Dialogue: Contact...Touching the World
Monday 3rd May, 2010
9am - 4pm
A one day workshop for those with some prior experience of Insight Dialogue.
In this one day retreat-which will involve silent and dialogic meditation-we will introduce an investigation of contact, or touching (phassa). The world springs into being as the sense object, sense door, and consciousness co-arise. A beautiful and natural continuity of mindfulness can arise as the result of attention to each and every moment of contact, sensory or interpersonal. Such mindfulness, born of diligent practice, can open the door to non-grasping and to insight. Clear understanding and compassion are the natural result.
