Buddhist Practice groups

There are many groups offering ongoing practice and exploration which would deepen what you have been learning in the MBSR course. These groups also offer longer retreats. Here are a few leads for you to explore:

INSIGHT MEDITATION

Insight (Vipassana) meditation is the simple and direct practice of moment-to- moment mindfulness. Through careful and sustained observation, we experience for ourselves the ever-changing flow of the mind/body process. This awareness leads us to accept more fully the pleasure and pain, fear and joy, sadness and happiness that life inevitably brings. As insight deepens, we develop greater equanimity and peace in the face of change, and wisdom and compassion increasingly become the guiding principles of our lives.

ZEN MEDITATION

Zen meditation develops the ability to settle the mind and begin to enquire directly and deeply into your life and the actual nature of reality.  Practice is vital to honing an ever more instinctive and subtle reflex of calm, practiced awareness in response to what life throws up.

One of the worldÕs great old wisdom traditions, Zen remains a vibrant and beautiful

way to navigate through our lives in the 21st century. The human questions are

perennial: Who am I? How can I find peace of mind? What can I do about

suffering? What is this life?
